Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over opponent Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since that period of 2023.
Success also indicates he has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six finals, including in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his ability to perform at the elite level was over.
But the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
Both players swapped service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional victory, took control to force a final set.
Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a close deciding set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
